The GNORC will have a float in the Faith Fourth Parade! We have raised private donations to pay for a rented professional float so no monies will be used from he general fund for it. If you would like to walk behind the float, a distance of 1.3 miles typically in very hot weather and hand out beads and generally show our presence to the county we would be delighted! We will have a sound system on the float playing Tracy Byrd’s “We Love the Country” and encourage everyone to wear attire of his or her choice showing who they are professionally, recreationally or just simply country attire (use your imagination). Please e-mail Mary Lynn Connor at mconnor2@carolina.rr.com to sign up to walk by June 6 at the latest, because we have to report the number to on the Faith Fourth Committee shortly after that. You are welcome to bring your spouses, kids, grandkids, houseguests, whomever, to walk with us. We will not be carrying any signs, just small American Flags and beads over our arms for handing out. There will be signs on either side of the float identifying us and one small sign on the float that says “protecting your property rights”. Our aim is a positive presence in the parade to remind folks we are still active as an organization.

We have started filling up the second bus. Keep up the good work and make sure we ask everyone to go. This will make a big impact on getting the moratorium and making real changes to the state law.

What a great turn out for last night’s meeting. We have chartered a path forward for GNORC. The participation in this organization is truly unbelievable. There is no doubt we can have an impact on state, county and city elections. Everyone that signed up for a committee should be contacted within the next week or so.
REMEMBER JUNE 4TH TRIP TO RALEIGH. ASK YOUR FRIENDS AND NIEGHBORS TO GO, WE NEED TO FILL FOUR BUSES. AS OF TODAY WE HAVE FILLED ONE BUS.
The sub-committee on annexation has proposed a moratorium on annexation. NOW we need to contact our state representatives to let them know how we feel.

Today the city council voted against the annexation of the HWY 150 corridor. The battle was won today, but the WAR IS JUST BEGINNING. If we do not want to be annexed in the near future we must change the state law. The GNORC is having a general meeting on April 24th at 7:00 pm. The meeting will be at the Locke Fire Department on Hwy 150. Everyone needs to attend so we can continue this fight.

We are going to Raleigh tomorrow for the public hearing on changing the annexation state laws. Again, what a turn out, we have filled up two buses.
Below is the link for the water and sewer forms:

We held our second general meeting. What a great turn out, we had approximately 300 people show up for the meeting. The GNORC would like to thank Arnold Chamberlin, Jim Sides and Tina Hall for coming out to the meeting and speaking. We really appreciate the county commissioners support. We ALL need to be talking to our neighbors and getting the message out that attendance counts at the city, county and state meetings. We need a big turnout. Our lawyer will be at the March 27th meeting. Everyone needs to write, call and email all of your representatives and make sure they know how you feel about forced annexation.

In the documents section a new document has been upload. It is a letter that was written to the House Select Committee on Annexation by a member. This is the FAC representative that came and talked at our meeting. This is very good information and everyone should use the factual information when speaking and writing letters.

State Legislature Meetings – There is a meeting on MARCH 19th, 2008 and April 9th, 2008. We would like to have a presence at both meetings. The meeting on APRIL 9TH 2008 WE NEED A LOT OF PEOPLE. If we have enough participation we will get a donated bus for the trip to the meeting. Please contact Jeff Matthews if you can go to either meeting.
We decided as a group that everyone needs to ensure they represent this organization in an appropriate manor. This organization will not be disrespectful or disruptive.
WE NEED PARTICIPATION AT ALL CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS EXPECIALLY THE MARCH 27TH AND THE APRIL 8TH MEETING. IF WE SHOW UP WITH 300 PEOPLE THEN THE CITY COUNCIL WILL ASSUME THE OTHER 1400 PEOPLE ARE FOR THE ANNEXATION. WE NEED TO MAKE SURE ALL OF OUR NEIGHBORS ARE INFORMED AND SHOW UP TO THE MEETINGS. ALL FAMILIES INCLUDING CHILDREN SHOULD GO TO THE MEETINGS.
